The Rodin update timeline

From the Gen 2 editing tools to the latest free texture bump, here's the order things shipped in, newest first.

July 2026 · Gen-2.5 "0702" patch

Better High-tier geometry, 8K textures free for everyone

The first update after Gen-2.5's launch shipped three changes at once: sharper geometry on the High effort tier, 8K PBR textures unlocked for every plan (previously a paid-tier feature), and a new "Bloom" emissive texture mode for glowing surfaces. Hyper3D made the whole patch free, with no subscription required to use any of it.

12K Texture Generator, beta for Business subscribers

The highest texture resolution Rodin has shipped: a 12K texture mode, described by Hyper3D as a world first for this kind of generator. It's gated to Business-plan subscribers in beta, and you turn it on by setting the Texture "Thinking Effort" slider to Extreme-High rather than picking a separate toggle.

June 3, 2026 · Gen-2.5 launch

Rodin Gen-2.5: sculpt-level detail, production control

The headline release of 2026. Gen-2.5 introduced the five-tier Adaptive Thinking Effort system (Extreme-Low at roughly 4 seconds through Extreme-High at roughly 80), raw output up to 10M+ polygons, a Smart Low-Poly beta built on autoregressive mesh reconstruction, 3D-native texture generation that removes the seams typical of 2D multi-view projection, batch generation of up to 10 variations at once, and manual "Bang to Parts" segmentation for production pipelines. Hyper3D also highlighted a production collaboration with NetEase's Eggy Party, a game with over 500 million registered players.

February 9, 2026 · Rodin Gen 2 editing tools

3D inpainting: select, describe, regenerate

The update that became Partial Edit: a drag-and-box selection tool for isolating one region of a finished mesh, paired with a text prompt describing the change you want. Rodin regenerates only the selected area rather than the whole model, and output stays as production-ready, high-poly quad geometry.

Gen-2.5 (0702), in plain terms

"Gen-2.5 (0702)" is the version string you'll see in the Rodin workspace right now - Gen-2.5 is the model generation, 0702 is the patch that followed it. Together they represent the most capable version of Rodin to date, and the full Gen-2.5 guide and hands-on review both test against this exact build.

Two things distinguish this release from earlier Rodin versions: an effort dial that trades generation time for fidelity instead of forcing one fixed pipeline, and a texture pipeline that generates materials directly on the 3D surface instead of projecting flat images onto it. Both are covered in more detail below.

Texture updates

8K free for everyone, 12K in beta

Texture resolution has moved the fastest of any part of Rodin this year. 8K PBR texture packs - previously a paid add-on - are now included on every plan, including Free. Business subscribers can additionally opt into a 12K Texture Generator beta by setting the texture Thinking Effort slider to Extreme-High; Hyper3D has billed it as the first generator of its kind to reach that resolution.

The same patch added a "Bloom" texture mode for emissive, glowing surface detail - useful for sci-fi props, signage, crystals and anything else that needs to read as lit from within, without hand-painting an emissive map afterward. For a full breakdown of which export formats carry texture data through to your engine or DCC tool, see the export formats guide.

Geometry updates

10M+ polygon raw output, and Smart Low-Poly

Gen-2.5 can output raw geometry past 10 million polygons - described by Hyper3D as "RAW file" quality, dense enough for normal-map baking or 3D printing without a separate high-poly sculpt pass. If your target is a game engine rather than a printer, the Smart Low-Poly beta goes the other direction: it uses autoregressive mesh reconstruction to produce clean, engine-ready triangle and quad geometry at a target face count instead of a raw dump. Both paths are covered with settings and examples in the low-poly guide and the 3D printing guide.

For teams shipping into an engine, this pairs with the multi-image workflow - Fuse and Concat modes for combining several reference photos, plus batch generation of up to 10 variations per run - detailed in the multi-image reference guide.

Editing tools

Partial Edit and manual part segmentation

Rodin's editing tools mean a finished model doesn't have to be a dead end. Partial Edit (the feature introduced as "3D inpainting" back in the Gen 2 update) lets you box-select one region of a completed mesh and describe a change in text - Rodin regenerates just that area and leaves the rest of the model untouched. Gen-2.5 paired this with manual "Bang to Parts" segmentation, which intentionally splits a model into separate, controllable components for pipelines that need individually riggable or swappable pieces.

Full walkthroughs of both, including which effort tiers and credit costs apply, are on the Partial Edit page and the prompt-writing guide.

Ecosystem

DCC bridge: Blender, Maya, Godot, Cinema 4D

Gen-2.5 shipped direct DCC bridge integration, so a generated asset can round-trip into Blender, Maya, Godot or Cinema 4D without a manual export/import step. Combined with the documented REST API on the Business tier, this is the biggest step Rodin has taken toward fitting into an existing studio pipeline rather than sitting outside it. See the Blender integration guide and the API reference for setup details, or the game development guide for how this fits a production workflow end to end.

What's likely next

Hyper3D has signaled the 12K Texture Generator moving from Business-only beta to a wider rollout, and continued investment in the DCC bridge lineup alongside its two companion products, ChatAvatar (rigged avatars) and OmniCraft (HDRIs, textures and mesh utilities). Nothing here is a confirmed roadmap - treat it as a direction, not a release date - and this page will be updated as soon as Hyper3D ships the next patch.

FAQ

Rodin updates: frequently asked questions

What's the latest version of Rodin?+

Gen-2.5 (0702) - the Gen-2.5 model launched June 3, 2026, followed by a "0702" patch that improved High-tier geometry, made 8K textures free for all plans, and added a Bloom emissive texture mode.

Do I need to pay to get the new 8K textures?+

No. 8K HighPack textures were a paid-tier feature before the 0702 patch and are now included on every plan, Free included. See the free tier guide for the rest of what's included at no cost.

How do I access the 12K Texture Generator?+

It's in beta and limited to Business-plan subscribers. Inside the workspace, set the Texture "Thinking Effort" slider to Extreme-High rather than looking for a separate toggle. Check the pricing page for current plan details.

What changed between Gen 2 and Gen-2.5?+

Gen 2 (February 2026) introduced 3D inpainting - the box-select-and-prompt editing workflow that became Partial Edit. Gen-2.5 (June 2026) was a much larger jump: the five-tier Adaptive Thinking Effort system, 10M+ polygon raw output, Smart Low-Poly, 3D-native texture generation, batch generation and DCC bridge integration.

Does Rodin integrate with Blender, Maya or Unreal/Unity?+

Gen-2.5's DCC bridge connects directly to Blender, Maya, Godot and Cinema 4D, and Smart Low-Poly targets are built for real-time engines like Unity and Unreal. See the Blender guide and game development guide.

Where can I see a full review, not just what's new?+

The Hyper3D Rodin review covers output quality, pricing value and a head-to-head against Meshy and Tripo AI, tested on the current Gen-2.5 (0702) build.
